Coopers Knob from Hoon Hay Reserve 2023

Leaders, photos and report: Denise and Ken

With a fairly uncertain weather forecast and lots of fog, 11 keen walkers met at Hoon Hay Reserve carpark.  We set off not being able to see very far in any direction.  We had two friendly sheep who joined our line of walkers for the first part of the walk.

We stopped at the Sign of the Bellbird for morning tea – still without a view!

The next part of the track was muddy and slippery but lovely with the bark on the fuchsia trees looking beautiful after the rain. We carried on towards Coopers Knob but made a mutual decision not to go to the top as by then there was a cold wind blowing and there would be nothing to see but cloud.

We climbed a stile and found a sheltered spot for lunch where the clouds parted for a short time and gave us a view of the harbour. We got some glimpses of the city and surrounds on our return walk.  A great day was had by all!
