Mt Herbert from the Monument 2023

Leader and report: Pauline
Photos: Sheila and Anh
Total distance: 10.6km

Seventeen walkers had ideal weather for our annual walk to the summit of Mt Herbert.

For our two newest members it was their first time on this track and the wonderful 360° views did not disappoint.

The Monument Track is a steady climb for nearly 5 km to the summit.  From our lunch spot we had clear views down to the Kaituna Valley across Lake Ellesmere to the Kaitorete Spit. We returned to the carpark on the same track.
